Islamabad: Former minister Fawad Chaudhry has stated that PTI founder Imran Khan will not create any impression that aligns him with Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking on ARY News, Chaudhry confirmed that meetings involving PTI had indeed taken place, but negotiations failed because Khan refuses to back down from his stance. “There is no doubt that Imran Khan is a popular leader, and he will not give the impression of becoming another Nawaz Sharif,” he asserted.
He further emphasized that Khan has no plans to leave the country or strike a deal. “He has become unpredictable for the system and is unwilling to retreat,” Chaudhry added.
According to the former minister, the government fears what might happen if Khan is released. “There is no alternative to elections; eventually, the country must go to the polls,” he stated.
Chaudhry stressed that the only viable solution is to reach an agreement with Imran Khan on the election date. “There is no second opinion—dialogue is the only way forward,” he maintained.
When asked about Shehbaz Sharif, he remarked that the former prime minister has no room for negotiations. “The government should first discuss matters with the establishment before engaging with PTI. If the government cannot even facilitate a meeting with Imran Khan, then the final decision rests with him,” he concluded.
