Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), has not yet applied for the Oxford University chancellor position, but his advisor, Zulfi Bukhari, confirmed that Khan intends to run.

The election is scheduled for October, and the candidates will be announced then. The application deadline is August 18. Khan faces competition from former UK prime ministers Sir Tony Blair and Boris Johnson.

If Khan wins, he will be the first Pakistani to hold the position. The chancellor role is ceremonial and involves presiding over major ceremonies. Khan studied Economics and Politics at Keble College, Oxford in 1972 and captained the university’s cricket team.

The election process will be conducted online for the first time in the University’s history, with approximately 250,000 eligible voters. The University is seeking candidates who can demonstrate outstanding achievements, a deep appreciation for the University’s mission, and the ability to enhance its reputation.
