Islamabad( The COW News Digital)Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has accused the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) of being used as a tool by the establishment and political rivals to keep him out of politics.
In his testimony during the Toshakhana 2 reference proceedings, Khan claimed he was removed from power through a “domestic and international conspiracy” and has since faced relentless political victimization. According to him, dozens of cases have been filed against him and the PTI leadership, but most key cases have either resulted in acquittals or suspension of sentences.
Khan questioned why only he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were being targeted in the Toshakhana reference, while former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, who also allegedly obtained luxury vehicles unlawfully from the Toshakhana, have not been prosecuted.
The former premier emphasized that all gift valuations during his tenure were carried out by government-approved experts and followed official policy. He denied exerting any personal influence on the process and placed full responsibility on the experts who handled the valuations.
Khan specifically named Inam Shah, a key prosecution witness, accusing him of dishonesty and of being under the influence of Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) and Awn Chaudhry. He alleged that the establishment used Tareen and Chaudhry to fracture PTI and weaken him politically ahead of the February 8 general elections.
Bushra Bibi, in her written statement, rejected the allegations entirely, stating she never received gifts from the Toshakhana nor interfered in their valuation process. As a “pardah-observing woman,” she said she never dealt with officials of the Prime Minister’s Office or Toshakhana. She accused NAB of implicating her merely because she is Imran Khan’s wife.
Bushra further alleged that key witnesses were acting on behalf of political opponents, pointing out that Inam Shah provided false testimony against her under the influence of Tareen and Chaudhry. She also reminded the court that she and Khan had already been sentenced to 14 years in prison in another case, a verdict that was swiftly suspended by the Islamabad High Court.
As the accountability court nears its verdict, PTI circles view the Toshakhana 2 case as yet another chapter in what they describe as a systematic campaign to remove Imran Khan and his party from Pakistan’s political landscape
