Rawalpindi: In a significant development, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday formally indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in connection with the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The indictment was read out by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah during proceedings held in the courtroom.
Sheikh Rashid and Other Accused Also Indicted
In addition to Imran Khan, several other co-accused, including former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, were also indicted in the case.
Arrest of Former Provincial Minister
Meanwhile, police confirmed the arrest of former Punjab Minister Raja Basharat in connection with the case.

Imran Khan and the other accused pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.
Details of the Case
The case, registered at RA Bazaar Police Station, names 143 individuals, including the PTI chairman, as accused in the May 9 GHQ attack. Notably, 23 of the accused have already been declared absconders by the court.
The May 9 incident, which saw violent protests and attacks on military installations, is widely regarded as one of the most significant challenges to Pakistan’s security and law enforcement in recent years.
