Imran Khan Asserts No Personal or Financial Gain from Malik Riaz as Prime Minister

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has stated that Malik Riaz, the prominent real estate tycoon, will testify that he did not derive any personal or financial benefit from him during his tenure as Prime Minister. Khan emphasized that unlike his political rivals, he did not build a luxury residence like Bilawal House, referencing PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari.

In a post shared on the microblogging site ‘X,’ Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated, communicated his views during a conversation with lawyers and media representatives at Adiala Jail on January 22. He criticized the actions of the former Chief Justice, Qazi Faez Isa, accusing him of avoiding hearings on PTI’s petitions regarding alleged rigging in the 2024 elections and the May 9, 2023, events.

Khan also condemned the severe human rights violations committed against PTI members, listing incidents from Zille Shah to Samiul Zahir, which he described as a long history of oppression and injustice.

“We have not received justice from any court across the country,” Khan asserted. “The courts are paralyzed, but the illegal government fears that if any judge hears our human rights petitions on merit, they could deliver real justice.”

He further stressed that, despite these challenges, history dictates that oppressive regimes cannot last forever.

On a positive note, Khan expressed his gratitude to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for intervening on his appeal, leading to the release of around 7,200 poor Pakistani citizens from Saudi jails.

The former PM reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Pakistanis, explaining that this was the driving force behind his entry into politics. Khan emphasized that neither he nor his wife, Bushra Bibi, personally benefitted financially from the Al-Qadir Trust, adding that Malik Riaz could testify to this.

In his statement, Khan also drew contrasts with political figures like Asif Zardari and the Sharif family, mentioning that unlike them, he did not build lavish estates like Bilawal House or engage in property deals at inflated prices.

Khan also defended the establishment of the Al-Qadir University, highlighting the importance of investing in Pakistan’s youth. He condemned the social media campaigns launched against his wife, Bushra Bibi, by his political opponents, accusing them of malicious intent.

“The people who claim to be our well-wishers but end up becoming part of the propaganda against us are not our allies; they are playing into the hands of our enemies,” Khan concluded
