The countdown to the historic CommBank Women’s Ashes Day-Night Test Match has begun, with Australia captain Alyssa Healy and vice-captain Tahlia McGrath preparing to light up the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The match, scheduled for January 30 – February 2, 2025, will be the first-ever day-night Test at the stadium and coincides with the 90th anniversary of the first women’s Test Match at the MCG.
Healy expressed her excitement, saying, “We can’t wait to play the first-ever day-night Test at MCG. It’s going to be a special occasion as we honour the 90th anniversary of the first women’s Test series under lights at this iconic venue.”
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley praised the event, saying, “The Women’s Ashes will not only be a great sporting event between fierce rivals, it will add to the list of iconic sporting events held in Melbourne.”
The Victorian Government and Melbourne Cricket Club have shown strong support for the event, which promises to be a landmark occasion for Australian sport.
