Beirut: Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem voiced concerns over the disruption of the Iran-to-Syria military supply line following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria.

According to international media reports, Qassem criticized Israel’s actions in the Golan Heights buffer zone, accusing it of expansionist ambitions. He described the situation in Syria as a confrontation with a “dangerous, aggressive enemy” and urged the new Syrian leadership to resist normalizing ties with Israel.

Qassem appealed to Syrian rebel leader Abu Muhammad al-Khawlani and newly appointed Prime Minister Mohammed al-Bashir to maintain Syria’s longstanding position of treating Israel as an adversary. He expressed hope that the new government would not establish formal relations with Israel, aligning with Syria’s historical stance.

The Hezbollah chief also confirmed that the military supply route from Iran through Syria has been temporarily disrupted but expressed optimism that the new Syrian leadership would not obstruct efforts to restore this critical link.

“We hope the new government will recognize the strategic importance of maintaining resistance efforts against Israel,” Qassem remarked, emphasizing Hezbollah’s ongoing commitment to its objectives.
