Intermittent snowfall continues in the northern regions of the country.
Murree, Nathiagali, and Ayubia have witnessed heavy snowfall, with up to 6 to 8 inches recorded in the upper regions of Galiyat. Snowfall continues in Astore, while Dir, Malam Jabba, Miandam, and Kalam are also experiencing freezing temperatures due to recent snowfall.
In Dir, 3 inches of snow has been recorded, while over a foot of snow has accumulated around the Lowari Tunnel and Kumrat Valley. The snowfall has led to power outages in various areas.
Following the heavy snowfall, the Deputy Commissioner of Murree has issued a travel advisory for tourists. Travelers are advised to check weather conditions before heading to Murree and Galiyat, use well-maintained vehicles, keep fuel tanks full, carry food and dry fruits, drive in low gear, use snow chains, and avoid parking violations or taking photos and videos while driving.
The PDMA has forecasted continued snowfall and rain in Murree over the next 24 hours, which may impact traffic flow. Authorities are working to maintain road safety by spreading salt on icy roads.
The Relief Commissioner has ordered Murree’s administration to remain on high alert. Thirteen facilitation centers have been set up for tourist guidance. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and, in case of emergency, contact PDMA’s helpline at 1129.
