Heavy Rain Expected in Karachi as Cyclone Asna Moves Away from Sindh’s Coast

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of heavy and moderate rain in Karachi as cyclone Asna moves away from Sindh’s coastal belt. The cyclonic storm, which was previously expected to make landfall, has changed its trajectory and is now heading towards the coastal belt of Balochistan and then Oman.

Although the storm is likely to weaken and dissipate in the sea, posing no threat of making landfall on any coast, the PMD has forecast heavy rain with strong winds and intermittent thundershowers in Karachi and other districts of Sindh by today evening or night. The rain is expected to bring relief to the city, which has been experiencing hot and humid weather for the past few days.

The PMD has advised fishermen of Sindh not to venture into the sea today, while those in Balochistan must avoid going into the deep sea till tomorrow. Sea conditions may remain rough, with sea winds expected to blow at 60 to 70 km/hour in the metropolis.

Karachi has already received rain throughout last night, with various areas receiving significant rainfall. The rain has brought traffic to a standstill in some areas, with drivers advised to drive at a slower speed and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

The PMD’s forecast shows a possibility of heavy rain in Hub, Lasbella, Awaran, Kech, and Gwadar districts of Balochistan till tomorrow night. The rain is expected to bring relief to the drought-hit areas of Balochistan, which have been experiencing water scarcity for several months.

The cyclone’s change in trajectory has brought relief to the authorities, who had made preparations for a potential landfall. However, the PMD has advised citizens to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to avoid any potential dangers.

In conclusion, the heavy rain expected in Karachi and other parts of Sindh and Balochistan is a welcome relief from the hot and humid weather. However, citizens must remain cautious and take necessary precautions to avoid any potential dangers.
