Heavy Rain Alert: Over 150mm Rain Expected to Hit Karachi

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz warns that Karachi can expect over 150mm of rain from tonight till August 31, with heavy downpour and wind thunderstorms predicted. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts scattered heavy to isolated very heavy falls, with urban flooding and rain inundation feared in Karachi and other Sindh metropolitan cities.

A low-pressure system in Indian Gujarat is influencing monsoon winds, affecting Sindh. The PMD records show significant rain in various Karachi areas, with Quaidabad receiving the highest amount.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon establishes a rain emergency cell at the Chief Minister House, advises fishermen to avoid the sea, and ensures necessary machinery for drainage.
