Islamabad: ( The COW News Digital)-Most parts of the country will remain hot and humid on Sunday, with prediction of rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms later in the day, said Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Heavy rainfall is also likely in select areas, potentially disrupting routine life. PMD has also issued an advisory for July 6 and 7 (Sunday and Monday), warning that heavy rain can lead to flooding in local and rain-fed rivers and streams, especially in Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan, as well as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, DG Khan, North East Punjab, Kashmir and Balochistan.

There is also a possibility of traffic movement being affected due to landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir, while low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera and Peshawar may also get flooding. Public is advised to exercise caution during these two days.

For Sunday in particular, going region by region, PMD said that in Islamabad and adjoining areas, the day will remain hot and humid, with partly cloudy skies. However, the evening may bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rain at isolated locations.

Most districts of Punjab will face continued hot and humid weather, though conditions will be partly cloudy. Later in the day, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Murree, and other parts of upper and central Punjab. Heavy rainfall is likely at a few places, particularly in the Potohar region, Lahore, and Sialkot.

Districts including Sahiwal, Jhang, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and DG Khan may also witness thundershowers and gusty winds during the day.

Hot and muggy weather will dominate most of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, areas like Dir, Swat, Malakand, Abbottabad, and Peshawar are likely to receive thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall. Authorities have urged caution due to the possibility of localized flooding in some regions.

In Sindh, the heat will persist across most districts. However, rain and thunderstorms are expected in parts of Tharparkar, Sanghar, Khairpur, and Mirpur Khas. Karachi and nearby coastal areas may experience light rain or drizzle, providing brief respite from the heat.

Weather in Balochistan will remain mostly hot and humid, but areas such as Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Dera Bugti are likely to receive thundershowers, with chances of heavy rain at some spots.

Daytime in Gilgit-Baltistan will remain hot, but isolated thundershowers are expected by evening or night. In Kashmir, partly cloudy skies, strong winds, and thundershowers are predicted in several areas, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some localities.
