Islamabad: Senior leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (N), Hanif Abbasi, has issued a sharp response to Mehmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) and Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aeen, following his press conference in which he criticized the government.

Abbasi accused Achakzai of pursuing an anti-Pakistan agenda, particularly during a time when Pakistan had successfully countered incursions on its western border. He said, “While Pakistan has responded decisively to border intrusions, Mehmood Khan is speaking in favor of the intruders.”

Abbasi further criticized Achakzai’s character, saying, “At his age, he shamelessly continues to lie. Before speaking about Shahbaz Sharif’s loyalty to his brother, Mehmood Khan should reflect on his own actions.”

He also dismissed Achakzai’s claims about Shahbaz Sharif, stating that history bears witness to the fact that Shahbaz Sharif had rejected the offer to become Prime Minister under Musharraf. He praised Shahbaz for standing by his brother during difficult times, enduring imprisonment, while accusing Achakzai of engaging in hypocritical politics. “Lying and deceit have become his trademark,” Abbasi added.

Earlier, during a joint press conference with Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, the head of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, Achakzai had labeled the federal government led by Shahbaz Sharif as a “fake government.” He claimed that the government was intentionally leading the country towards civil war and called for an All-Party Conference involving the military and journalists.
