Gaza ( The COW News Digital)The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has announced that it will not participate in the formation of Gaza’s upcoming administrative authority, signaling a major shift in the post-conflict political landscape of the region.

In an interview with an Arab news outlet, a senior Hamas leader — speaking on condition of anonymity — confirmed that the organization has no intention of overseeing border crossings or aid distribution in the Gaza Strip. This development comes amid ongoing international efforts to establish a stable governing body following months of conflict and humanitarian crisis.

“Hamas will not be part of the future government administration of Gaza,” the leader stated, distancing the group from direct political control amid rising diplomatic efforts and humanitarian needs.

The leader emphasized that Hamas supports the recent Two-State Solution Conference held in New York, which drew global attention to Palestinian rights. He specifically expressed gratitude towards Saudi Arabia for its stance in favor of the Palestinian cause and welcomed international efforts aimed at preventing the forced displacement of Palestinians.

He further condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s threats to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, calling such remarks a clear reflection of Israel’s hostile intent. The Hamas representative warned that these threats could endanger the lives of Israeli hostages, while adding that Hamas remains aware of the emotional toll on hostage families.

“We understand the emotions of Israeli hostages’ families,” he said. “But it must also be acknowledged that nearly every Palestinian family has a member imprisoned in Israeli jails.”

He asserted that Hamas has always been ready for a hostage exchange, but Netanyahu consistently undermines ceasefire negotiations, prolonging the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

This announcement marks a pivotal moment in Palestinian internal politics, as international mediators continue to seek a governance structure that can administer Gaza effectively while securing both peace and humanitarian relief. It also raises questions about which factions or coalitions may emerge to fill the administrative vacuum left by Hamas’s withdrawal from the process.

With the future of Gaza’s political and humanitarian framework still unclear, this move by Hamas could shift the balance of power and influence broader regional negotiations on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
