Palestinian resistance group Hamas has expressed its willingness to release an American hostage held in Gaza, following negotiations with the United States over a potential ceasefire.
According to international media reports, the discussions between Hamas and the U.S. led to a breakthrough, with Hamas agreeing to release American citizen Aiden Alexander, who is believed to be the last remaining American captive in Gaza.
Senior Hamas leader Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya confirmed the development, stating that the group has agreed to the release and has also expressed support for opening humanitarian corridors to facilitate aid into the war-torn enclave.
Meanwhile, Israel has voiced strong reservations regarding the ongoing negotiations between Hamas and the U.S., signaling tensions over any agreement that excludes Israeli input or security guarantees.
The announcement comes amid growing international pressure for a lasting ceasefire and increased humanitarian access in Gaza.
