A lone gunman overpowered eight Israeli soldiers and broke through all barriers to enter a military base.
According to international media reports, an armed attacker launched an assault on an Israeli military checkpoint in the Tayasir area of the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces failed to stop the gunman, who engaged in direct combat, leaving eight soldiers critically wounded—two of them in serious condition.
After overpowering troops at the checkpoint, the attacker managed to infiltrate the military compound, where further clashes took place.
Despite reinforcement efforts, Israeli forces have so far been unable to neutralize the attacker, who remains inside the compound. The military has called for additional troops, vowing not to let him escape.
Israeli authorities have stated that there could be more than one attacker, but no definitive confirmation has been made.
The incident comes as Israel shifts its military focus to the West Bank following the ceasefire in Gaza, leading to intense clashes with resistance fighters.
Over the past year, more than 800 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, while more than 40 Israeli soldiers and civilians have also lost their lives.
