The government has planned to refund the excess amount charged to consumers by reducing electricity prices by 2 rupees per unit.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency has submitted a request for January’s monthly fuel adjustment, which will be reviewed by NEPRA on February 27.
In January, 7.81 billion units of electricity were supplied to distribution companies at a production cost of 10.78 rupees per unit, while the reference fuel cost was 13.01 rupees per unit.
Electricity generation in January came from hydropower at 10.63 percent, local coal at 15.56 percent, imported coal at 8.53 percent, furnace oil at 1.35 percent, local gas at 13.11 percent, imported LNG at 18.92 percent, and nuclear energy at 26.61 percent.
