Four Pakistanis Confirmed Dead in Greece Boat Tragedy

Islamabad: The Foreign Office of Pakistan has confirmed the deaths of four Pakistani nationals in a tragic boat accident near Greece.

The incident occurred on Sunday near the southern Greek island of Gavdos when a wooden boat carrying migrants capsized. At least five people lost their lives, while 39 others were rescued by the Greek Coast Guard. Forty individuals remain missing.

On Monday, the Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed the Pakistani casualties, adding that the Pakistani Embassy in Athens is actively coordinating with Greek authorities. Efforts are underway to assist the Pakistani survivors and repatriate the bodies of those who lost their lives.

The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by migrants undertaking perilous sea journeys in search of better opportunities.
