Gujranwala: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has confirmed that the bodies of four more Pakistanis have been recovered from the Greece boat accident site, raising the total number of Pakistani fatalities to nine.

Details of the Deceased

The newly identified victims include Shabbir, Zain Ali, and Zeeshan from Narowal, and Owais Ali from Sialkot. Their bodies were recovered near Gavdos Island and have been transferred to a hospital in Athens.

The Pakistani embassy in Greece is coordinating efforts to repatriate the bodies, but the process is expected to take at least a week.

Crackdown on Human Traffickers

In response to the tragedy, the FIA has intensified its crackdown on human trafficking networks. Six suspects, including individuals linked to the Libya boat accident, have been arrested in operations across Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Islamabad.

Key Arrests and Findings

According to FIA officials, the arrested individuals—identified as Ahmed Nawaz, Muhammad Arshad, Mazhar Khan, and Mansha—were key figures in a trafficking ring. They were involved in visa fraud and illegal smuggling of citizens abroad, exploiting desperate migrants for financial gain.

In the Libya boat incident alone, the suspects reportedly extorted over PKR 51.6 million from nine victims.

The government has vowed to take stringent action against those responsible for such crimes, as families of the victims mourn their losses and await the return of their loved ones’ remains.
