Lahore (News Desk): President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and former Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has turned 75 today.

Born on December 25, 1949, in Lahore to a Kashmiri family, Nawaz Sharif received his education in commerce from Government College and later studied law at Punjab University Law College before entering politics in the late 1970s.

Nawaz Sharif began his political career in 1981 as the Finance Minister of Punjab. He served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 1985 to 1990, and as the Prime Minister of Pakistan three times: from 1990 to 1993, 1997 to 1999, and again from 2013 to 2017.

One of Nawaz Sharif’s significant achievements was leading Pakistan to become the world’s seventh nuclear power and the only Islamic nation with nuclear capabilities by conducting five successful nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, in response to India’s nuclear tests.

In 2006, he signed the Charter of Democracy with Benazir Bhutto, committing to end military rule. Despite serving as Prime Minister three times, Nawaz Sharif was never able to complete a full constitutional term in office.
