Former PM Hasina Charged with Crimes Against Humanity in Bangladesh

Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been formally charged with crimes against humanity in connection with mass protest killings, according to a Bangladeshi court ruling.

According to the The COW News digital, the court declared Hasina the chief architect and the responsible figure behind the deaths that occurred during anti-government protests.

The indictment also names the former Interior Minister and Inspector General of Police as accomplices in the case.

Dhaka’s former Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman has also been listed as an accused in the murder case.

According to United Nations reports, approximately 1,400 Bangladeshis were killed during the July and August 2024 protests.
