Islamabad (News desk): The formation of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) continues to be delayed due to the opposition’s lack of seriousness. Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Chief Whip of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has written a third letter to PTI’s Chief Whip, Amir Dogar. The government coalition has decided to ensure the election of the PAC Chairman next week, no matter what.

In his letter, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that in his previous two letters, he had requested a panel of four members for the PAC Chairman’s selection. He emphasized that the ruling coalition had made serious efforts to facilitate the election of the PAC Chairman, and the decision to request a panel of four names was a collective one by the government alliance.

Dr. Chaudhry reiterated that the government wanted to give the opposition the opportunity to choose the PAC Chairman to ensure a transparent and self-accountability process. Despite ten months having passed, the opposition has failed to submit the panel. As the Chief Whip of the ruling party, he stated that he was under pressure from allied parties to expedite the selection process for the PAC Chairman.

He urged Amir Dogar to submit the panel within the next seven days, stating that if it was not submitted within the given time frame, the government coalition would proceed to make the decision regarding the PAC Chairman. Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry made it clear that the election of the PAC Chairman would take place next week, come what may.
