Paarl : Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Rizwan emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating that there is no “I” in the team, only “we.”

Speaking to the media in Paarl, Rizwan said that while past failures are left behind, the team learns valuable lessons from them. He acknowledged that the T20 results were not up to expectations but reiterated that the focus now is entirely on preparing for the Champions Trophy through the ongoing ODI matches.

“Our full focus is on ODIs as part of the Champions Trophy preparations. We are in a good rhythm in the ODI format and will aim to maintain that momentum,” Rizwan said.

He further added that the T20s were used to provide opportunities to young players and experiment with different combinations. “In the ODI series, we are playing with the Champions Trophy in mind,” he added.

Highlighting the team’s unity, Rizwan remarked, “Every player in the team is a captain. There is no ‘I’; it is always about ‘we.’ Our teamwork is strong, and whether junior or senior, everyone is focused on winning for the team.”

The Pakistani skipper explained that they are adapting to conditions in every series, acknowledging the challenges of playing overseas. He also noted South Africa’s recent success, saying, “They have momentum and are coming off wins, but we also performed well, defeating Australia in Australia and winning the series in Zimbabwe. The ODI series will be a good contest.”

Rizwan concluded by affirming the team’s commitment to staying united and delivering strong performances as they aim for success in the Champions Trophy.
