Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport faced significant disruptions on Monday, September 2, 2024, as nine domestic flights were cancelled due to operational and technical setbacks. The cancellations affected several airlines, including FlyJinnah, Serene Air, AirSial, and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

FlyJinnah’s flight 9P852 from Karachi to Quetta was among the first to be shelved, leaving passengers stranded. Serene Air followed suit, cancelling its flight ER-504 from Karachi to Islamabad, as well as flights ER-522 and ER-524 from Karachi to Lahore.

AirSial also cancelled two of its flights, PF-143 and PF-145, both of which were scheduled to operate from Karachi to Lahore. PIA, the national carrier, was not spared either, with flight PK-310 from Karachi to Quetta being cancelled, along with flights PK-302 and PK-306 from Karachi to Lahore.

The cancellations have caused inconvenience to hundreds of passengers, many of whom were left scrambling to make alternative arrangements. The reasons behind the cancellations are yet to be fully disclosed, but sources suggest that operational and technical issues were to blame.

This is not the first time that Karachi Airport has faced flight disruptions. In recent months, the airport has experienced several incidents of flight delays and cancellations, causing frustration among passengers.

The authorities must take immediate action to address the issues plaguing Karachi Airport. Passengers deserve better, and it is the responsibility of the airport authorities and airlines to ensure that flights operate smoothly and efficiently.
