The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Unit has launched a crackdown on fake travel documents at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, arresting two passengers in possession of counterfeit visas. The suspects, Shamsuddin from Attock and Muhammad Yaqub from Rajanpur, were detained during the immigration clearance process after their passports were found to contain fake Iraqi visas.
According to an FIA spokesperson, both individuals had paid over Rs 300,000 each to agents for the fraudulent documents. The arrests are part of a larger ongoing effort by the FIA to curb illegal travel practices at the airport. Further investigations into the matter are underway.
This latest incident follows another significant arrest last month, where the FIA Immigration Unit apprehended Sajid Mahmood, a human trafficker, at the same airport. Mahmood, who was wanted in connection with a human smuggling incident based in Gujarat, was attempting to flee to Azerbaijan. He was offloaded from his scheduled flight and taken into custody by Interpol, which is now overseeing further investigations into his activities.
The FIA’s crackdown on fake travel documents is a welcome move, as it will help to prevent illegal travel and human trafficking. The agency’s efforts will also help to protect the country’s borders and prevent criminals from fleeing the country.
The use of fake travel documents is a serious offense, and those found guilty can face severe penalties, including imprisonment. The FIA’s actions serve as a warning to those who engage in such activities, and it is hoped that it will deter others from attempting to use fake documents to travel.
