The federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government have exchanged accusations over the Bannu incident, which resulted in the deaths of civilians during a protest rally.
Information Minister Tarar’s Allegations
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar alleged that members of the KP government attended the protest rally and that PTI founder Imran Khan should have condemned the incident. Tarar also accused the KP government of politicising the incident and attempting to defame security agencies.
KP Government’s Response
KP Information Adviser Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif denied Tarar’s allegations, calling them “stupid and ridiculous.” Saif claimed that no PTI members were involved in the protest and that Imran Khan and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had condemned the incident. Saif accused the federal government of politicising the incident and attempting to worsen the situation.
Commission to Investigate Incident
The KP government has announced the formation of a commission to investigate the Bannu incident, which the federal government has criticized as an attempt to cover up the truth.
