Karachi –: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has initiated a comprehensive data collection drive targeting wedding halls across Karachi.

The campaign seeks to determine how much tax each wedding hall has paid, the number of events hosted throughout the year, and other relevant financial details. Wedding hall owners are being asked to submit withholding tax receipts and full records of annual events to the FBR.

Regional Tax Office (RTO) teams, led by Assistant Commissioners from RTO-I and RTO-II Karachi, conducted surprise inspections in District East on Thursday. These inspections covered wedding halls in areas such as Shahrah-e-Faisal, Nursery, PECHS, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, collecting their annual records.

According to an RTO Assistant Commissioner, the collected data will be forwarded to the respective Chief Commissioners. The FBR audit teams will analyze the annual records to assess wedding halls’ revenues and ensure compliance with tax regulations.

The unannounced visits have left many wedding hall owners unsettled, prompting them to consider reaching out to the FBR Chairman to address their concerns.

This effort underscores FBR’s commitment to ensuring transparency and proper tax collection within the city’s wedding and banquet hall industry.
