Karachi (News Desk): Farooq Sattar, leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, has criticized the current state of education in Karachi, claiming that the future of the city’s students is being “darkened.” Speaking to the media in Karachi, Sattar revealed alarming statistics, stating that only 33% of students in Pre-Medical First Year passed their exams, while 71% of Pre-Engineering students and 67% of Pre-Medical students failed.
Sattar accused the education authorities of exploiting students and their families by imposing fees for re-evaluation of results, calling it an “income-generating scheme.” He emphasized that the futures of capable students were being ruined due to these practices.
The MQM leader also claimed that those in power have become more influential, while the Karachi Examination Boards have been “destroyed.” He further criticized the decision to lower the pass rates for the matriculation and intermediate boards in Karachi, contrasting it with the higher success rates in educational boards of interior Sindh. Sattar argued that these actions are closing doors to higher education for Karachi’s youth.
