Islamabad: Faisal Chaudhry, lawyer for former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, has accused certain disruptive elements within the government of attempting to sabotage ongoing negotiations.

In a post on the microblogging platform ‘X,’ Faisal Chaudhry claimed that despite Imran Khan’s request for a meeting with the government’s negotiation committee, no response had been received from the authorities. He noted that despite repeated assurances from members of the government committee, the PTI founder had still not been granted a meeting, suggesting a lack of seriousness on the government’s part.

Chaudhry further alleged that some elements within the government were intentionally undermining the negotiations to prevent the restoration of democracy, the constitution, and the rule of law in the country. “These elements are trying to block the path to democracy, constitutional governance, and the rule of law,” he said.

In response to the ongoing deadlock, Faisal Chaudhry expressed his frustration, saying that the government appeared to lack even the authority to arrange a simple meeting.

Fawad Chaudhry Weighs In on Government’s Failure to Facilitate Talks

Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry, former federal minister and Faisal Chaudhry’s brother, also took to ‘X’ to comment on the stalled negotiations between the government and PTI. He pointed out that when Imran Khan insisted that talks should be held with the establishment, who held the real power, both the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the Pakistan People’s Party had objected, questioning why they were not being included in the dialogue.

Fawad Chaudhry criticized the government’s inability to facilitate a meeting between Imran Khan and PTI’s negotiation committee, despite the efforts of senior figures such as Senator Irfan Siddiqui, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah. “It has been a week, and despite all their efforts, they have failed to arrange a meeting with Imran Khan. If such elements can’t even organize one meeting, how can there be any meaningful dialogue?” he questioned.

He further added that political parties with no real authority over such basic matters should reconsider their positions. “If these parties had even a shred of integrity, they would step down from their positions,” he said, emphasizing the government’s lack of political legitimacy to lead the dialogue process.
