Ex-ISI Chief Lt. Gen (R) Faiz Hameed Formally Charged in Field General Court Martial

Rawalpindi: Former ISI chief Lt. Gen (R) Faiz Hameed has been formally charged in an ongoing Field General Court Martial, according to a statement from the Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The charges include alleged involvement in political activities, violations of the Official Secrets Act that jeopardized state security and interests, misuse of authority and official resources, and causing undue harm to individuals.

Investigation Expands to Violent Incidents

The ISPR further revealed that during the court martial process, separate investigations are underway into Gen. Hameed’s alleged involvement in violent and destabilizing incidents, including those linked to the unrest of May 9. These investigations also focus on potential collusion with political elements accused of orchestrating the events.

Legal Rights Ensured

The ISPR assured that Gen. Hameed is being provided all legal rights as per the law during the court martial proceedings.

Gen. Hameed was taken into military custody on August 12, with the court martial process formally initiated shortly thereafter. The case marks a significant development in the military’s efforts to address allegations of misconduct within its ranks.
