The European Union (EU) office in Pakistan has issued a warning to Pakistani citizens about a new scam.

In a message shared on the EU’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the European Union’s diplomatic missions in Islamabad alerted the public to fake listings on Google Maps for embassies of EU member states. These fraudulent entries contain misleading information about visa and consular appointments, including fake phone numbers.

The EU office described this as a serious scam orchestrated by criminal organizations.

In its advisory, the EU emphasized that the official websites of European Union member state embassies are the only reliable source for all visa and consular matters, and not Google Maps or other directories listing embassy contact details.
