Islamabad:
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has signed a $200 million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to improve Pakistan’s power sector.
According to a spokesperson from the Economic Affairs Division, the funds will be utilized to enhance the performance of three power distribution companies: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO), and Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO).
The agreement was signed by Secretary of Economic Affairs Dr. Kazim Niaz on behalf of Pakistan, while Deputy Country Director Asad Aleem represented the ADB.
The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure and address key challenges in the power distribution sector, ensuring better service delivery and operational efficiency.
