Donald Trump Signs Multiple Executive Orders on His First Day as President

Washington, D.C.: On his first day in office, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a series of major executive orders, including the reversal of 78 presidential actions taken by former President Joe Biden.

Following his inauguration, President Trump attended a ceremony at the Capital One Arena, where a large number of his supporters gathered, and various law enforcement agencies paid their respects to the newly elected president. Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy, also spoke at the event, introducing the families of Israeli hostages.

Among the significant decisions, Trump signed orders to cancel several key initiatives from the Biden administration, including a ban on offshore drilling and other environmental policies. The President also signed orders freezing federal employee hiring and ending the work-from-home policy for federal employees.

Trump took immediate action on foreign policy as well, formally withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement and reversing Biden’s executive order on artificial intelligence. He also revoked Biden’s goal of achieving 50% electric vehicle sales by 2030.

In a series of immigration-related actions, Trump signed executive orders related to border control, declaring drug cartels as terrorist organizations, and imposing a national emergency on the southern border.

Additionally, President Trump signed an order prioritizing U.S. interests in international environmental agreements and another providing emergency relief to American families facing rising costs. He also canceled a policy that empowered the federal government to militarize against political opponents.

The White House confirmed that President Trump granted pardons to 1,500 individuals involved in the Capitol riots and signed an executive order on TikTok, granting the authority to either buy or ban the app. He warned that if China did not approve the TikTok deal, tariffs could be imposed on the country.

In his remarks, Trump also mentioned plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed his intent to stop purchasing oil from Venezuela, and stated that he would work to undo the damage done by at least 80 of the previous administration’s “destructive” executive orders.

In another notable move, Trump ordered the Justice Department to close pending cases related to the January 6 Capitol attack. He also signed an order for the U.S. to withdraw from the World Health Organization.

On the political front, the U.S. Senate confirmed Marco Rubio’s nomination as Secretary of State, while Lisa Kenna and Robert Celsi were appointed as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense, respectively.

Trump’s inauguration marks the beginning of his presidency as the 47th President of the United States, with Chief Justice John Roberts administering the oath of office.
