Peshawar: The Medical Superintendent (MS) of Parachinar Hospital revealed that 29 children have died in the last two months due to a lack of medical treatment in District Kurram.

Deputy Commissioner Javedullah stated that the Grand Jirga, formed to address the law and order situation in Kurram, will reconvene today.

Meanwhile, key roads in District Kurram, including the Peshawar-Parachinar main highway, have been blocked for the past 70 days. This road closure has led to severe shortages of food, fuel, gas, and medicines in the region.

The MS of Parachinar Hospital also expressed concern, stating that the shortage of medical supplies and treatment has led to the tragic deaths of 29 children, and warned that the situation could worsen without immediate intervention.

It is noteworthy that over 100 people were killed in clashes between local tribes in District Kurram, which triggered the ongoing road blockages. The Grand Jirga, which was established to address the security situation, has so far failed to reach any resolution.
