Dialogue Among Political Parties Vital for Democracy: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Islamabad: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), emphasized that negotiations among political parties are a fundamental aspect of the democratic process. He stated that avoiding dialogue and refusing to engage is an undemocratic approach.

The remarks came during a meeting with Senator Irfan Siddiqui, spokesperson for the government’s negotiation committee and a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N). Senator Siddiqui visited Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence to inquire about his health.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman highlighted that major issues can only be resolved through mutual dialogue and discussions. He stressed the need for political harmony, stating, “Pakistan requires stability and mutual unity on all fronts, and achieving this necessitates political cohesion.”

During the meeting, Senator Siddiqui briefed Maulana Fazlur Rehman on the progress of the ongoing negotiations. He also appreciated the Maulana’s efforts in resolving the matter of religious seminaries’ registration amicably.
