According to The COW News, the resolution to impose a ban on PTI was presented in the assembly by Mir Saleem Khosa, the parliamentary leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The opposition strongly opposed the resolution put forward by the government allies and staged a walkout.
Opposition member Nawab Aslam Raisani criticized the resolution, saying, “It is not befitting for any political party to advocate for a ban on another party, and I oppose this resolution.”
He added, “Everyone should be given a level playing field, and all issues should be resolved through dialogue.”
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) member Yunus Zehri also condemned the resolution, stating, “We condemned the incidents of May 9 and continue to do so. I also denounce the conduct of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.”
He further clarified, “We will not support the ban on PTI.”
Opposition member Dr. Malik Baloch expressed his concerns, saying, “We have engaged in political struggles with these parties. We have not learned from the bans imposed on Jamaat-e-Islami and Awami National Party (ANP).”
Dr. Malik added, “We never imagined that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties would advocate for a ban. Those who opposed Nawaz Sharif in the past are now part of the Muslim League.”
He warned, “Fear the day when you might have to join PTI.”
In contrast, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, in support of the resolution, said, “Previous parties opposed each other politically, but it was PTI that introduced abusive language in politics and used offensive rhetoric against security institutions, which is condemnable.”
He emphasized, “A resolution should be passed against anyone who crosses the red line of the state and the country.”
Jamaat-e-Islami member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman opposed the resolution, stating, “If no ban was imposed on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), then PTI should not be banned either.”
He further added, “The party should not be punished for the actions of its workers.”
It is noteworthy that the opposition members in the Balochistan Assembly staged a walkout in protest against the resolution.
The Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly adjourned the session indefinitely
