Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government on Information, Barrister Saif, held separate meetings with delegations from Kurram, where discussions focused on resolving issues related to the implementation of the peace agreement.
The delegations from Kurram raised their concerns regarding obstacles in enforcing the peace deal, and conveyed their reservations to the provincial adviser. Barrister Saif listened to both parties’ concerns and assured them of the government’s full support in addressing the issues.
During the meetings, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of all government decisions, including the demolition of bunkers, and praised the government’s efforts to restore peace in Kurram. They also expressed their gratitude to Barrister Saif for his special attention to the matter.
Barrister Saif emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the KP government is fully committed to resolving the Kurram issue. He acknowledged the efforts of Ali Amin Gandapur, who has shown interest in peacefully resolving the decades-long conflict.
He stressed that lasting peace in Kurram can only be achieved with the cooperation of both parties and the local population. He urged the people of Kurram to support the government and stay away from troublemakers.
The KP Adviser also highlighted that the demolition of bunkers is an ongoing process and both parties’ bunkers are being dismantled without discrimination. He confirmed that a large relief convoy would soon be dispatched to Kurram.
It is important to note that the areas of Parachinar and Kurram have experienced heightened tensions in recent months, resulting in numerous casualties. The federal and provincial governments have facilitated negotiations and efforts to broker a peace agreement between the conflicting parties.
