Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that any dialogue must be initiated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its leader.

Speaking to a private TV channel, the minister said, “People are making noise about negotiations, but I am unaware of any such efforts. Even ministers in the party tasked with negotiations are in the dark.”

Khawaja Asif emphasized that initiating dialogue requires a softer approach. “If PTI is serious about talks, they should make contact through proper channels, such as the Speaker, to formally start the process. Once they reach out, we will be in a position to respond,” he remarked. The minister also criticized PTI’s inconsistent rhetoric, pointing out that the tone used before November 26th remains largely unchanged. “If PTI truly seeks negotiations, they must display sincerity by moderating their language and behavior,” he added.

He further reiterated that PTI Chairman Imran Khan should personally take the lead, as no one else in the party holds significant influence.
