PESHAWAR ( The COW News Digital) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has launched a scathing attack on both the federal and provincial governments, accusing them of failing to restore peace and protect Pakistan’s economic future. Speaking at a party meeting in Peshawar, Fazlur Rehman claimed that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been deliberately stalled, effectively blocking the country’s path to economic recovery.
“Militants did not arrive here on their own; they were brought here,” the JUI-F chief alleged, warning that the security situation has deteriorated to the point where leaving home and returning safely is considered a blessing. He accused the state of being helpless and unable to provide peace, saying international powers were playing games in Pakistan’s backyard.
Fazlur Rehman lamented that both the previous government of Imran Khan and the current administration failed to bring any meaningful policy change. “We had grievances with Imran Khan’s government, but this government has also failed to deliver. CPEC has been blocked, and Pakistan’s economic lifeline is being choked,” he said.
He further accused international forces of interfering in Pakistan’s politics, claiming that the crises the country faces are manufactured rather than natural. “There is no governance in the province — not bad governance, but mis-governance. Those who have been imposed on us are backed by the establishment,” Fazlur Rehman said.
The JUI-F chief alleged rampant corruption, stating that those protecting the current government are equally responsible for the province’s decline. He also accused the establishment of admitting to tampering with national and provincial assembly seats, repeatedly undermining JUI-F’s mandate.
Fazlur Rehman criticized recent legislative attempts regarding mines and minerals in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning that if the rights of local people were denied through legislation, JUI-F would resist strongly. “The resources belong to the people and future generations of these provinces. If their rights are snatched, we will not stay silent,” he asserted.
He reiterated that JUI-F stands with the Constitution and the state but rejects politics of violence. “Our position is clear: we are fighting for the survival of the country and the supremacy of the Constitution,” he declared, vowing continued resistance against policies that undermine provincial rights and national economic interests.
