Islamabad, (News Desk)– The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has ordered the arrest of Ali Amin Gandapur, former Minister and Member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following his continued absence from court proceedings in a case involving the illegal possession of arms and alcohol.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti, who was hearing the case, expressed frustration as neither the investigating officer nor Gandapur’s lawyer, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, appeared in court. The judge remarked, “Neither the accused nor his lawyer is present,” before directing the SSP Operations to arrest Gandapur and present him before the court.
The hearing has been adjourned until January 21, 2025.
In 2016, Islamabad police had claimed to have seized a variety of illegal items from Gandapur’s vehicle in the Bani Gala area. These included alcohol, Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, magazines, a bulletproof jacket, and three canisters of tear gas.
