A court has ruled that the marriage of Dua Zehra and Zaheer Ahmed is valid, dismissing a petition that sought to declare their Nikah (marriage contract) as fake.
The ruling was issued by a judicial magistrate in Karachi East, rejecting the plea filed by Dua Zehra herself. The court stated that if she seeks annulment of marriage, she must approach the appropriate legal forum.
Zehra had previously married Ahmed of her own will, after the two met on an online gaming platform. However, she later filed a petition through her father to annul the marriage.
The case has sparked widespread public attention in Pakistan, particularly after Zehra was initially placed in a shelter home by court order due to her young age. She was later allowed to return to her family.
