Karachi (News Desk) — Former Pakistan star fast bowler Mohammad Amir has expressed amusement at the frequent comparisons between Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli and Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
Praising Kohli, Amir described him as the greatest batsman of the modern era, dismissing comparisons with contemporaries like Babar Azam, Steve Smith, and Joe Root. According to Amir, Kohli’s unmatched consistency and ability to win games across all formats set him apart from his peers.
“When I hear comparisons between Kohli and Babar, or even Steve Smith and Joe Root, it makes me laugh,” Amir said. “Virat Kohli is in a league of his own. He has won so many matches for India in all formats, something that is almost impossible for a single player to achieve.”
Amir also highlighted Kohli’s work ethic, pointing to his remarkable comeback after a difficult tour of England in 2014. “After that rough patch in England, the way Kohli bounced back and dominated world cricket for the next decade is nothing short of extraordinary,” Amir added.
The former fast bowler’s comments come as both Kohli and Babar continue to lead their respective teams and showcase their prowess on the international stage. While debates persist among fans and analysts, Amir firmly believes Kohli stands tall as this generation’s cricketing icon.
