China Welcomes Pakistan-India Ceasefire, Urges Continued De-escalation

China has officially welcomed the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, calling it a positive step toward regional peace and stability.

According to a statement from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke on the night of May 10 with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He also held a separate phone call with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, in a diplomatic effort aimed at de-escalating tensions and securing a full and lasting ceasefire.

Minister Wang Yi expressed hope that both countries would firmly uphold the current ceasefire and refrain from further military confrontation. “China expects India and Pakistan to continue maintaining restraint and resolve their disputes through dialogue and negotiations,” he stated.

The Chinese foreign minister emphasized the importance of returning to the path of political solutions and reiterated China’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.

Wang further assured that China will remain in close communication with both Islamabad and New Delhi and continue to support efforts aimed at fostering regional harmony.
