Islamabad( The COW News Digital) A political controversy erupted on Friday after Bushra Bibi’s sister, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, dismissed the egg attack on Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan outside Adiala Jail as “drama,” sparking heated reactions from both government officials and the opposition.
In a post on social media platform X, Maryam Riaz wrote without naming anyone directly: “It’s all a drama, and you are all being fooled. Analyze things and reach the real conclusion.”
Her remarks came just hours after Aleema Khan was struck by an egg while speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail. The incident quickly became the subject of viral videos and political debate.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, responding to Maryam Riaz’s comments, seized the opportunity to criticize Khan’s camp. Sharing her statement, he remarked: “Bushra Bibi’s own sister is saying this is all drama—that Aleema Khan got herself egged.”
Earlier in the day, Aleema Khan was addressing the media when two women hurled eggs at her. One of the eggs struck her, prompting PTI supporters to protest loudly. Police swiftly intervened, detaining the two women involved and moving them to the Adiala police post.
According to Rawalpindi police spokespersons, preliminary investigations revealed that the women belonged to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), adding another layer of irony to the incident. The police statement further fueled speculation about whether the act was orchestrated or a spontaneous protest.
