A wanted terrorist of the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a banned militant organization, has been killed by his own accomplice, according to security sources. Shambeen alias Shahak was involved in numerous attacks on security forces and the killing of former members who had surrendered.
Security experts believe that the killing points to infighting within militant groups, which are driven by financial interests rather than ideology. Brigadier (retd) Waqar Hassan described these organizations as “criminal mafia” engaged in extortion and chaos creation.
The infighting is attributed to the division of funds and surrenders made by ex-members of banned militant organizations. The increase in infighting intensity may lead to the cessation of these organizations’ operations.
Balochistan has been a target of terrorist activities, with 25% of all deaths in the second quarter of 2024 due to terrorism.
