In a welcome move, petrol and diesel prices are expected to witness a massive decrease this week, bringing relief to millions of motorists across the country. According to sources, the federal government is likely to slash the prices of petrol and diesel by a whopping Rs. 12 per liter each on September 14, 2024.
The anticipated price cut is attributed to the decline in international oil prices, which have fallen below $70 per barrel in the current fortnight. Moreover, the Pakistani rupee has remained stable at 278 during this period, further contributing to the expected price reduction.
If the forecast materializes, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is poised to decrease to Rs. 250-251 per liter, while the price of MS petrol is expected to fall to Rs. 247-248 per liter. This would be a significant drop from the current prices of Rs. 262.75 per liter for diesel and Rs. 259.1 per liter for petrol.
The previous fortnight saw a marginal price reduction, with petrol prices slashed by Rs. 1.86 per liter and diesel prices cut by Rs. 3.32 per liter. However, this week’s expected price decrease would be a much-needed respite for motorists who have been bearing the brunt of high fuel prices.
