Babar Azam becomes joint-fastest batter to reach 6,000 runs

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the joint-fastest batsman to reach 6,000 score in one-day international (ODI) by achieving the feat in his 123rd innings, sharing the record with South Africa’s Hashim Amla.

In addition to this achievement, Babar has also become the fastest Asian player to reach 6,000 runs. Previously, India’s Virat Kohli had reached the milestone in 136 innings.

The former skipper is now the 11th Pakistani batter to achieve 6,000 ODI runs.

Other notable Pakistani players who have reached this landmark include Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Saeed Anwar, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Saleem Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, and Ejaz Ahmed.

The feat came with his 10th run in today’s innings during the Tri-Nation Series final as Pakistan took on New Zealand at Karachi stadium.
