Pakistan’s star batsman, Babar Azam, has added another accolade to his career by completing 4,000 runs in Test cricket.
The former captain achieved this milestone during the first Test against South Africa, surpassing the 4,000-run mark with just three runs needed. He reached the landmark on the opening day of the Test match, but was dismissed for 4 runs shortly thereafter.
This Test match against South Africa is Babar Azam’s 56th Test match. He is now the third player in the world and the only Pakistani batsman to have scored 4,000 runs in all three formats—Test, ODI, and T20.
The first Test match of the series between Pakistan and South Africa is being played at SuperSport Park in Centurion, as part of the Boxing Day Test. South Africa won the toss and opted to field.
Pakistan’s batting line-up faltered again, with the team being bowled out for 211 runs. In response, South Africa finished the first day’s play at 82 for 3.
