Sydney:
Australia has suffered a setback ahead of the fifth and final Test against India in Sydney, as fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been sidelined with a back injury. His participation in the upcoming match has now been put in doubt.
Starc had experienced back pain during the fourth Test but still managed to bowl through the discomfort.
Currently, Australia leads the five-match series 2-1, with one match having ended in a draw. The final Test between Australia and India will begin on January 3 in Sydney.
In the fourth Test, played in Melbourne, Australia defeated India by 184 runs, making India’s path to the Championship final more difficult.
Chasing 340 runs to win, India was dismissed for 155, with Australia gaining a 2-1 lead in the series. Australia scored 474 in their first innings, while India replied with 369. In the second innings, the Australians were bowled out for 234, setting India a target of 340 runs.
The final Test of the series will begin on January 3 in Sydney.
