Australia Offers Technical Education to Pakistani Madrasas to Meet Modern Needs
Islamabad: The Australian government has proposed providing modern technical education to Pakistani madrasas to help their students align with the demands of the contemporary world.
According to state media, Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins met with the Minister for Religious Affairs, Interfaith Harmony, and Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain. The meeting involved detailed discussions on promoting interfaith harmony, combating terrorism, and addressing religious intolerance.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain emphasized that fostering interfaith harmony and resolving the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis are top priorities for the government. He further stated that minorities in Pakistan enjoy full political, economic, and social rights under the Constitution.
The federal minister revealed that over 18,000 madrasas are registered under the Ministry of Education. He stressed the urgent need to equip madrasa students with modern technical skills to prepare them for current challenges.
Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins expressed his government’s willingness to support Pakistan in providing modern technical education to madrasa students. He highlighted that hatred and intolerance are root causes of violence and extremism, and promoting interfaith harmony can cultivate love, equality, and tolerance in society.
The High Commissioner also conveyed his condolences over the loss of Pakistani lives in the Greece boat tragedy. He reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to offering more employment opportunities to skilled Pakistanis.
The federal minister assured that the Pakistani government is taking effective measures to prevent illegal human trafficking and has initiated special projects to provide modern skills to individuals seeking overseas employment opportunities.
