In the ongoing investigation of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s drug case, the investigating officer has spoken out about the bribery allegations and the leaked chat controversy.
Aryan Khan was arrested in 2021 as part of an investigation into an alleged international drug racket, with the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Zonal Director, Sameer Wankhede, leading the investigation at the time.
In a recent interview, Wankhede addressed the alleged campaign against him, the leaked chats with Shah Rukh Khan, and the accusations of demanding a ₹25 crore bribe to release Aryan.
When asked whether he was targeted by the media for arresting the son of a Bollywood superstar, Wankhede responded, “I wouldn’t say I was targeted, but I would say I have been the luckiest person. No matter how big someone is, everyone should face the same rules. I have no regrets, and if given the chance, I would do it again.”
Regarding the leaked chats with Shah Rukh Khan in which it was alleged he requested to drop the case against Aryan, Wankhede referred to an affidavit filed in court and declined to comment directly. However, he strongly denied leaking the chats, stating, “I am not weak enough to leak things.”
Wankhede also vehemently denied allegations that he demanded a ₹25 crore bribe for Aryan’s release, stating, “I never released him. In fact, I arrested him. The case is in court, and I have trust in my country’s judiciary.”
It is worth noting that Aryan Khan spent 25 days in jail before being granted bail, and was later acquitted of all charges.
